It is an innovative degree course which borrows its tools of study from various varied disciplines. The rural economy has a vast potential for development through micro, social and innovative enterprises. The main objective of the course is to train students to become specialists in integrated rural development and focus on socioeconomic and institutional aspects both in developed and developing countries. Professionals with hands-on experience and training in rural development is a necessity for effective socio-economic development through capacity building. Trained human resources in the critical areas of market linkages, rural entrepreneurship, rural technology development, microfinance, livelihoods and skill development, natural resources management, management of agriculture and technical assistance in the areas of health, education, management of village administration, sanitation and infrastructure development are crucial\u00a0 to achieve sustainable development goals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Given that local governance plays a critical role in rural development, students are trained to recognize the importance of multi-stakeholder engagement, where government, non-government, and private entities collaborate for sustainable outcomes.
